BrickLink Designer Program: 421 projects, 5 chosen — and 29 delivered sets out of 31 above their pre-order price

Voting for the BrickLink Designer Program's 2028 wave is open until October 14, 2026: 421 projects, five will be produced. The programme fascinates with its selectivity and pre-order-dependent runs. We wanted to know what the European market does with BDP sets once delivered.

The funnel

  • 421 projects in the 2028 wave vote (Stonewars, October 1, 2026), until October 14.
  • 5 chosen, announced November 12. About one project in 84.
  • At least 3,000 pre-orders for a set to be produced (Hoth Bricks, about the 910073 Pumpkin Patch, €49.99, on pre-order October 6).
  • Funding in October 2027, delivery early 2028.

What the market does next

The Cault database tracks 50 BDP sets. 46 have at least 5 new sales over six months on BrickLink Europe, 1,053 sales in total. For the 31 whose euro pre-order price is known (2024 to 2026 waves), the average new sale sits at a median 15.4% above that price. 29 of 31 sell above their starting price.

WaveSets measuredMedian price gapMonths of stock (median)
2021-202311— (euro prices not verified)30,4
202410 (7 with price)+7,6 %44,1
202520 (19 with price)+15,4 %16,8
20265+24,3 %15,9

For context: across all LEGO sets released in 2025, the median is −28.7% under list price. BDP stands out. But as with any by-year reading: these aren't the same sets from one row to the next, and recent waves have less hindsight.

Limited run doesn't mean rare

910032 Parisian Street−6,5 %12 / 18190,5

Same programme, same pre-order logic, yet opposite markets. The Parisian Street has 181 copies for sale against 12 sales in six months, and sells under its €289.99 pre-order price. The Fortuna clears in three months. The "BDP" badge isn't enough to read a set: you have to look at its own market.

How we measured

  • Price: latest BrickLink reading, European market, euros, Cault database. Readings from July 4 to October 4, 2026: some are three months old.
  • Threshold: 5 new sales in six months. 4 sets excluded.
  • Pre-order price: Cault catalogue, in euros, checked on Hoth Bricks (910030 Snack Shack €44.99, 910032 Parisian Street €289.99). The 2021-2023 waves have no verified euro price: volumes and months of stock only.

My take

In our data, BDP is one of the few groups of recent sets whose median sells above the starting price. That's a fact worth stating. But it says nothing about Series 9 or the 2028 wave, which have no market price, and it hides huge gaps between sets. If you pre-order a BDP set, do it because you like the model. The market will judge each set on its own.
