LEGO Botanicals: the range LEGO France cites for its success sells 33.8% under list price on the market

In late September 2026, LEGO France explained that its licensed products accounted for "a little under 50%" of its sales, "giving up a bit of ground to the success of our BOTANICALS range in particular". A range doing that well in stores, what happens to it on the collectors' market? We measured 15 sets. The result is clear-cut, and it contradicts a common intuition.

Across the 15 Botanicals sets with at least 5 new sales on BrickLink Europe, the average sale sits at a median 33.8% below LEGO price. That's double the gap seen across all sets released since 2020. And it would take 91 months to clear current supply at the current pace, against 42 overall. Lots of supply, little premium.

Fourteen of fifteen sell below their LEGO price. The most telling case is the 10280 Flower Bouquet, one of the very first in the range: 1,042 new listings for 13 sales in six months. A heavily produced set stays heavily available, for a long time.

The exception: the 10289 Bird of Paradise

Only one Botanicals set sells above its LEGO price: the 2021 10289 Bird of Paradise, at +101.8% on 8 sales, with only 25 listings (19 months of stock). It's one line in fifteen. It shows that a best-selling range doesn't prevent one specific set from tightening. It doesn't show the others will follow.

2027: the range stretches downward

Two outlets, Hoth Bricks and Stonewars, announce six Botanicals mini-sets (11532 to 11537) for January 2027, 56 to 78 pieces, at €4.99 each. It's a cross-checked rumour, not an official announcement. At the same time, the 21353 The Botanical Garden (€329.99), an Ideas set on the same plant theme, is on the end-2026 retirement list relayed by HelloBricks, with no precise date.

It's not a replacement, it's a change of scope. A range starting at €4.99 no longer quite means the same object as a range of €50 or €100 display pieces.

How we measured

  • Botanicals: sets released since 2021 identified by name in the Cault catalogue, excluding small seasonal 40xxx sets. Threshold: at least 5 new sales. BrickLink Europe readings from August 13 to September 14, 2026, in euros.
  • Comparison point: 1,218 LEGO sets released since 2020 with at least 5 new sales (readings from June to September 2026).
  • Months of stock: new listings divided by monthly new sales. We didn't separate retired and in-store sets, lacking a reliable retirement date for each set.

My take

I like this result because it breaks a shortcut: "it sells well, so it'll gain value". Botanicals sell well, LEGO says so, and that's exactly why they're everywhere, new, in large numbers. The market doesn't pay a premium for what's abundant. A range's success in stores and its market price are two different things. To know what your Botanicals are worth, it's the second one you need to follow.
