LEGO Marvel 76339 HERBIE: the small-budget Fantastic Four set with zero minifigs — and that's the problem
747 pieces, €69.99, released August 1, 2026 alongside the Fantastic Four movie in theaters. HERBIE is a fully posable brick-built robot, with zero minifigures in the box. On this blog we often repeat that the minifig drives a licensed set's secondary value — so what's left when there isn't one at all?

A robot, not a diorama
HERBIE (Humanoid Experimental Robot, B-type, Integrated Electronics) is the Fantastic Four's companion robot in the comics and the new movie. LEGO turns it into an articulated, interactive object: tape-recorder-style eyes that rotate automatically as the head turns, highly poseable arms and fingers that can hold a mug and a screwdriver, both storable behind a panel that opens in the torso. It's a toy-sculpture meant to be handled, not a static diorama — closer in spirit to an evolved BrickHeadz than to a battle set with minifigs.
Why the missing minifig changes everything
On Gringotts (76417) or Minas Tirith (11377), we showed that exclusive minifigs often account for the majority of a licensed set's secondary value — up to 65% on Rivendell. That mechanism simply doesn't exist on HERBIE: no figure to individually price on the parted-out market, no exclusive print to track. All the potential value rests on a single object: the robot itself, its scarcity after retirement, and general demand for the Fantastic Four theme. That's a very different risk profile — closer to a bet on the license as a whole than a calculation based on identifiable components.
The comparable — another Fantastic Four, another calculation
The 76316 Fantastic Four vs Galactus, released in the previous wave for around €65, offers the perfect contrast: 982 pieces, a comparable price, but 6 included minifigs — the full team plus Galactus and Silver Surfer. Price per piece, HERBIE runs slightly higher (≈9.4 cents vs ≈6.6 for the 76316) for a single unique piece rather than a cast of characters. On paper, a buyer optimizing for potential secondary value has more levers with the 76316 — more figures, more individual resale angles. HERBIE plays a different card: an identifiable, fun-to-handle object, a bet on character nostalgia rather than minifig arithmetic.

My take
At €69.99, HERBIE remains a low absolute-risk purchase — even without appreciation, the potential downside is limited. But I'd never present it as an 'investment set' in the same way as this blog's exclusive-minifig sets: it's a bet on a likeable character and the movie's box-office traction, not a documented calculation. If the Fantastic Four movie performs well and the character's nostalgia grows, HERBIE could well age into a cult entry-level object, the way some BrickHeadz have become sought after. But I'd buy it first because it's fun to fidget with on a desk — the rest is a possibility, not a promise.
